The new multimodal AI model designed to deliver faster performance at a lower cost. During off-peak hours, its API costs $0.15 per million input tokens and $0.60 per million output tokens, compared with $0.20 and $1.20 for OpenAI’s GPT-5.6 Luna. DeepSeek says V4.1 Flash even outperforms its V4 Pro model on performance, speed and cost. Starting September 14, requests to V4 Pro will temporarily be routed to the new model and billed at Flash rates until V4.1 Pro is released.

Founder of Stack Chronicle and a journalist with experience across several local and national radio stations (including RTL2, Hit West, Euradio and Figaro Radio in France, and WDET in Detroit, Michigan), I began taking a deeper interest in technology in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. I quickly realised, that few media outlets were building meaningful connections between technology, AI, finance, politics and environmental issues. That observation led to the creation of Stack Chronicle: a publication designed to help both curious readers and more informed audiences understand the technological transformations shaping our world.
